Ingenuity Email Hosting can be accessed from a desktop email client, phone or tablet, or through our browser-based webmail. The connection settings below work with most email applications. Instructions for common device types are available in the expandable sections at the bottom of this page.

General setup instructions
Use the following settings to connect to an Ingenuity-hosted mailbox. Always use mail.teamingenuity.com as the server name, even when your email address uses a different domain.
Incoming server:

Use mail.teamingenuity.com as the server name. Your email address will continue to use your organization’s domain, but the incoming and outgoing server names should both be mail.teamingenuity.com.
Older accounts may be configured with a server name such as mail.yourdomain.com. Those accounts should be updated to mail.teamingenuity.com when enabling SSL/TLS. Do not accept or bypass a certificate warning.
Recommended secure settings
IMAP keeps your mail, folders, and read status synchronized across your devices. SSL/TLS and STARTTLS protect your username, password, and email while they travel between your device and the mail server.

IMAP is recommended for new accounts. POP3 is primarily intended for downloading mail to one device. IMAP keeps your messages, folders, and read status synchronized across your computers, phones, and tablets.
Important setup tips
- Always use mail.teamingenuity.com for both the incoming and outgoing server. Do not substitute your organization’s domain name.
- Always use your complete email address as the username, including the part after the @ symbol.
- Enter the username and password under both the incoming and outgoing server settings.
- Enable authentication for the outgoing SMTP server and use the same username and password as the incoming server.
- Use SSL/TLS with incoming IMAP port 993.
- Use STARTTLS with outgoing SMTP port 587. Some applications label this option SSL, TLS, or Use SSL.
- Do not accept an unexpected certificate warning. Confirm that the server name is entered exactly as mail.teamingenuity.com.
- If you are converting an existing account from POP3 to IMAP, add the IMAP account alongside the old account first. Copy any locally stored messages before removing the old account.
Device-specific setup
Desktop email clients
When adding the account to Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or another desktop email application:
- Choose to add the account manually.
- Select IMAP as the account type.
- Enter mail.teamingenuity.com for both the incoming and outgoing server.
- Set incoming IMAP to port 993 with SSL/TLS.
- Set outgoing SMTP to port 587 with STARTTLS.
- Enable outgoing authentication and enter your complete email address and password.
iPhone, iPad, and Android devices
Add the account manually using the built-in mail application:
- Choose Other or Other Mail Account as the account type.
- Select IMAP.
- Enter your complete email address and password.
- Enter mail.teamingenuity.com for both the incoming and outgoing server.
- Set incoming IMAP to port 993 with SSL/TLS enabled.
- Set outgoing SMTP to port 587 with STARTTLS or Use SSL enabled.
- Enter your complete email address and password under the outgoing server settings, even if the application labels those fields as optional.
