Record Status
Each Record has a status visible on the search screen which determines the type of transactions that can be performed on the record. A particular status’ meaning may differ based on the type of record you are working with. ‘On Time’ means the record can be renewed in the current renewal period. The default transaction type when you select an ‘On Time’ record is renewal. Upgrades and Transfers can be performed on ‘Early’ records.
Early
‘Early’ status means that the record has a current registration. The default transaction type when selecting an ‘Early’ record is ‘Replacement.’ A renewal cannot be performed on a record that has an ‘Early’ status.
Late
‘Late’ status means that the record was not renewed on time during the previous designated renewal period for that record. When renewing a ‘Late’ record, penalty and interest will be automatically calculated and applied. Escaped (Esc)
‘Esc’ status means that the record was not renewed in the previous renewal periods for greater than one year. As with late transactions, penalty and interest will be automatically calculated and applied during a renewal. This will result in multiple generated transactions; Up to two renewals will be created for each year escaped, for up to three total registration years (two years back and one year forward). Surrendered (SR) 'Surrendered' status means that the registrant dropped insurance on this particular vehicle and surrendered their plate. This may have been done in response to a suspension received from MLI or proactively before a suspension is created.
